Obituary Kruse, Preston J. Ypsilanti, MI Age 55, died on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, due to diabetic complications. He was born on February 8, 1955, in Kelly Field, San Antonio, Texas, the son of Billy L. and Maxine E. Kruse. He grew up an Air Force child, as his family moved from Kelly Field, TX to Tachikawa,Japan then to Mountain Home, Idaho, before returning home to Ypsilanti, MI in 1963. He graduated from Ypsilanti High School in 1973. He served a four year tour in the U.S. Air Force and again returned to Ypsilanti. He worked at Ann Arbor's Schlenker's Hardware for nearly seven years, where he picked up much insight into residential construction and repairs. In 2000, Preston started Aviation Mechanic Training and at the same time began reconstruction of a collapsed house on Clark Road; both endeavors were a success. A recent career exploration in the field of nursing required Preston to change surgical dressings daily for 6 weeks for his father's abdominal surgery. Preston was now a professional "Wound Nurse". He is survived by his father, Billy L. Kruse; his brother, Brandy Kruse; two nieces, Brandi (Ryan O'Bryan) Kruse of Portland, Oregon and Erin (Tony) Jenkins of Seattle, Washington; ex-wife Renee, who shared a brief marriage with him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Kruse in 2006 and his brother Billy Kruse in 2005. Memorial gathering will be held at Janowiak Funeral Home on Friday, September 25 from 3 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 4 p.m. Memorial contributions in Preston's memory can be made to First Presbyterian Church of Ypsilanti, where he attended Sunday School during the mid 1960's.
