Red Hawk Bar & Grill

316 S. State St.
Ann Arbor, MI 48104

Normally when you see the words Bar and Grill, you don't think of a fine place to eat, but the Red Hawk is the exception to the rule. The Red Hawk is a premium Restaurant located near most major attractions in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Red Hawk Bar and Grill is close to the Mendelssohn and State Theatres, the Michigan League and the main campus of the University of Michigan. The decor is strictly Ann Arbor, with open framed ceilings, and your basic brick walls. The Restaurant has window tables, comfortable booths, and dining tables.

The food is the main subject of any review, so lets get to it! In a word. the eating at the Red Hawk is not a hard thing to do. The kitchen there seems to have hit on just the right combination of fine spices and ingredients to make a meal there a mouth watering event. If you are a micro-brewery fan like me, then you will like the list of beers, which sports over 45 different brands from all over the country.
When I do a review like this, I believe that consistency of the food is the key to my opinion. Thus far, I have eaten there several times, and have sampled several different example of their fare. Each time, I have been pleased with the quality and flavor. The amount of food is slightly smaller than I would like to see, but adding a appetizer to your meal offsets this.
Another thing to note is that I did not see too much in the way of food for the kids, which would mean that you might not consider this to be a family place, but rather a adult Restaurant. This might not be true, but I got that feeling. Since this is a college town and most people are either the under 30 or over 50 crowd ( of course, I'm 39 so that shoots that idea all to hell ), , which kind of supports that theory.
When you take into account the quality of the food, the friendliness of the staff, and the central location, The Red Hawk Bar and Grill gets a major thumbs up.
