Cooker Restaurant No. 141
2000 Commonwealth (off of Plymouth Rd.)
Ann Arbor, Michigan 48105

If you want to eat where the food is good, and the staff fall all over themselves to wait on you, then this is the place!
Cooker's is located in northern Ann Arbor just off of Plymouth Rd on Commonwealth. The building faces Plymouth Rd., which
makes it easy to find.
If you plan on eating there, call ahead or get there early to assure a short wait. We went there this past Saturday at 5:30 pm and
had no trouble getting a table right away. My wife and I went there a few weeks ago at 7:00 on a Saturday and had a two
hour wait ahead of us.
The decor in the main part of the building is light and airy with a lot of earth tones. The booths are adorned with large clay
pots that have real tropical plants in them. The ceiling is stepped, with a hugh skylight and ceiling fans. The walls are light
brown wallpaper with a leaf patten on it. The tables, which are made out of wood, are large enough to hold four dinners and their food
and drinks with no problem.
The staff is.....very helpful. Almost to a fault. But, enough of that, on to the food!
The food in a word, is outstanding. Instead of breadsticks or crackers, Cooker's serves homemade biscuits, with whipped butter.
When you finish a basket, there is another to replace it. The biscuits themselves are sweet and tender.
The menu has a fairly good selection of meals, although I would like to see some microbrewed beers on the list. The
choice of dishes allows for the most diverse of tastes to be satisfied. Thus far, we have sampled the Catfish, Beef Stew, and
Pineapple Chicken. The Roast Beef was tender and tasty with large chunks of veggies in it. The Catfish was undercooked,
but the additional cooking was handled with much aplomb and grace by the manager himself. I had the Pineapple chicken,
which was broiled exactly right, with just the right ammount of broiled taste. The Pineapple was grilled with it, so that the
taste of the fruit was in the meat. The side dishes at Cooker's are served in their own bowls. With the dinners you get a choice of
two side dishes. They have a good selection of dishes, from veggies to fruit salads.
Cooker Restaurant No. 141 is a family dining establishment, with a relaxed dress code. Blue Jeans and kids are welcome
to dine there. Chair seats for the toddlers are not a problem.
This reviewer a big thumbs up.

notes: Could use some micro brewed beers on the menu, and a shorter wait for a table at times. Popularity has it's
problems, I guess.
